Program Summary

Engage '08 is a yearly campaign to:
 

  • Train immigrant & refugee community elders and activists in City Hall decision-making processes;
  • Then to introduce our trained advocates to elected City leaders and City bureau managers;
  • Finally, to place our leaders into citizen advisory boards and budget review sessions of City services deemed most urgent to immigrant and refugee familes. 

Eligibility

Elders and activists must sincerely want to use their leadership to serve their community's families.
Immigrant and refugee leaders should speak English or train with an English-fluent partner.
Participation in trainings is necessary; four trainings on Saturday mornings, once a month.
City Hall advocacy for communities is weekday evenings.
